“I Am Peace” Awesome Children’s Book

Awesome children’s book “I Am Peace” recommended by Dr. Darleen Claire Wodzenski

Books are wonderful tools for child learning, growth, and development … and this week’s book review is of “I Am Peace … A Book of Mindfulness” by Susan Verde. The book explains life’s challenges and stress like a big wave that turns over the child’s boat, explaining how to use mindfulness, breath, and awareness to create peace. This book is a great resource for children with ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and with a trauma history.

Just this week, I used this book with a six-year-old child who was experiencing uncomfortable anxiety. Susan Verde did a great job explaining in simple-to-understand terms how a child can focus on breath, feeling the breath coming out of their noses and feeling the rise and fall of their breath by placing their hand on their belly. The artwork is whimsical and engaging and the book helps children learn to practice focus and mindfulness.

Perhaps most important, “I Am Peace” helps children learn to let go of unwanted or intrusive thoughts. While I have used this book with children with great success … I might even recommend it to an adult one day. It is just that lovely and useful.

Thank you, Susan Verde, for giving us the wonderful book!!!
