Internship, Practicum & Supervision Resources
Everything in this section, grouped by how it is used. Read the group heading
before you use anything, because a clinician reference and a client handout are not
interchangeable.
How this index is organized
Each group below is colour-coded,
running red to violet down the page. The colour tells you who the page is written for.
- Placement & program — how supervision
works here and who to contact.
- Required before you see clients — complete
these first. Not optional.
- Training modules — staged learning with
worksheets, group facilitation, and a completion assessment. These earn indirect hours.
- Clinical reference — working references for
the therapist. Not written for clients and not intended to be handed out.
- School collaboration — IEP, Section 504,
and special education, for clinicians who attend school meetings.
- Client psychoeducation — plain language, for
clients and families. Work through in session, assign between sessions, or send home.
- For the clinician — your own sustainability.
Yes, it counts.

Required before you see clients
Complete first
Work through all of these before your first independent session. Your supervisor
will confirm completion before assigning you a caseload.
New
HIPAA & FERPA
Part A covers HIPAA and is required of every supervisee. Part B covers FERPA
and applies if your caseload includes students. Part C covers the one place they meet.
Confirm your pathway with your supervisor.
New
Disclosures: What We Tell Clients Before They Tell Us Anything
The limits of confidentiality, diagnosis, records requests, safety
disclosures, and how to state your own licensure and supervision status. Complete the
HIPAA & FERPA module first.
New
Consultative Collaboration & Notification to Outside Parties
How documents reach schools, employers and physicians — we send them to
the client, who approves and forwards. When direct contact is warranted instead, and what you
owe a client once they sign a release.
New
Play
Complete before your first child or youth client. Child-led play and
Theraplay, what play reveals, online safety, and vetted games and resources.
New
TeleMental Health
Preparation and reference for the six-hour board-required training. Rule
135-11-.01, jurisdiction, consent, client privacy and safety, the Orchard risk response
protocol, and safety planning.

supervision agreement.
Georgia Licensure, Board Rules & ACA Ethics
Four-page summary: the APC to LPC path, what practicum and internship
require, the Board rule chapters, mandated reporting, and the ACA code.
Crisis Support Resources
Know these before you need them, not while you need them. Hotlines,
emergency contacts, and escalation pathways.
Operations Manual
Orchard’s operating policy. Section C sets out the disclosures every clinician makes at the start of care; Section D covers documentation in Theranest, assessments, and risk assessment.
Tele-Mental Health
How telehealth is delivered here, and the practice standards that apply to
supervisees working remotely.
Client Forms — Adult
Intake and consent paperwork for adult clients. Know what your clients have
signed.
Client Forms — Minor / Under 18
Intake and consent paperwork for minors, including the parental consent
provisions.
On the HIPAA and FERPA module specifically: the two federal
trainings it links to are free but are hosted by outside agencies and take about two hours
combined. Start them early rather than the week you need the sign-off.
Training & assessment modules
Indirect hours
Staged learning with worksheets and a completion assessment. Work through these in
order within each module, and log your time per your supervision agreement. Some modules include
group processing and the opportunity to lead a psychoeducational processing group.
New
HIPAA & FERPA
Three separable parts. HIPAA for all supervisees; FERPA if you serve students;
the intersection if records cross to or from a school. Free federal trainings from HHS and the
Department of Education, a co-facilitated process group, and a part-divided assessment.
New

confidentiality, diagnosis, records requests including subpoenas, safety disclosures, and
stating your own licensure and supervision status. Includes scripts to rehearse aloud.
New
Consultative Collaboration
The client as agent of their own best interest, expressed as policy. Client-routed
letters and excuses, planning a release request, the two Orchard release forms, working with
prescribers and schools, and closing the loop you opened.
New
Play
Child-led play and Theraplay, Erikson’s stages and scaffolding in the
ZPD, what play reveals about a child, online safety, and vetted games, movement, and
bibliotherapy resources.
New
Showing Up Whole — Person-Centered Approach
The way of being in the room that sits underneath whatever model you work
from. Congruence and using yourself as the instrument, emoting within range, heart rate
variability as a trainable target, holding opposites, scaffolding in the ZPD, and widening a
field that has narrowed to two options. Includes a six-case group workbook.
New
TeleMental Health
Georgia requires six CE hours before any licensee delivers clinical TMH,
and nine before supervising by TMH. Ten sections and twenty-three worked cases: the law and
jurisdiction, intake and consent, platforms, therapy on screen, crisis and risk, online
dangers and the client’s room, the Counseling Compact, and ACA, NBCC and APA
ethics.
New
Learning, Literacy & Academic Success
Academic struggle arrives as anxiety, avoidance, and school refusal. How to
build familiarity before formal study, get a stuck client started, rebuild competence after
math phobia, and use graphic organizers. White paper, strategy chart, and success
contract.
When a Diagnosis Doesn’t Match the Presentation
Six stages plus a capstone. Differential reasoning, case conceptualization,
and collaborative consultation when the record and the client do not agree. Worksheet packet
and twelve-item assessment.

Clinical reference for the counseling room
Therapist only
Working references for clinicians. These are not written for clients and are not
intended to be handed out.
Clinical white papers
School collaboration — IEP, Section 504 & special education
Clinician reference
Orchard clinicians attend school meetings, write letters that enter education
records, and advise families navigating eligibility. Read these before your first meeting, and
read the HIPAA & FERPA module before you write anything that will be sent to a school.
Before you attend a school meeting: confirm you have a current
release naming the school and the purpose, and remember that what you say is likely to become part
of the education record. Stay inside your scope. Eligibility is a team determination, not a
clinical opinion you can supply.
Psychoeducation to use in session and share with clients
Client-facing
Written in plain language for clients, parents, and families. These can be worked
through in session, assigned between sessions, or sent home.
Neurodevelopment & learning
Relationships, parenting & communication
Nutrition, energy & the body
These pages are educational. They do not replace assessment, diagnosis, or medical
care, and nothing here should be used to guide changes to prescribed treatment.
Supervisees: discuss in supervision before assigning a resource to a client for
the first time.
For the clinician
Your own sustainability
Holding what clients tell you has a cost, and a placement year is when the habits
that either sustain or exhaust you get set. Use these, and bring what surfaces to supervision.
