Mama Mystique of Reactive Attachment Disorder by Dr. Darleen

Attachment disorder, whether Reactive Attachment Disorder RAD or Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder DSED, is heart wrenching and tragic for all families. But there are times when the emotional pain and devastation is even worse … and that is when the attachment disadvantaged child rejects or attacks the new mother or primary care figure. Causing deep emotional pain and mental anguish for the loving mothers who take on other people’s children, this phenomenon wrecks lives and destroys dreams … and we refer to it as the Mama Mystique of Children of Attachment Disorder. Check out Dr. Darleen’s post on Mama Mystique:

Orchard offers a number of resources to help heal the broken connection between the child and the new mother figure. One such book is the therapeutic fairytale Marmalade Jam by Dr. Darleen. Parents and helping professionals can read this story to children to instigate conversations about safety, compassion, and how children can heal from tragic circumstances.
